Four days and 218 miles up a switch-backed, pot-holed road on the outer edges of the Indian Himalaya in remote Arunachal Pradesh (border of India, Tibet and Bhutan) sits the Jhamtse Gatsal Children’s Community. Tibetan for “The Garden of Love and Compassion,” Jhamtse Gatsal is a community, school, and home to more than 100 children ranging from toddlers to adolescents. The center strives not only to provide housing for the kids but empower them through education, cultural preservation, family, community, and health—the first of which hinges on their ability to access technology like computers, internet and solar power.

Last summer, four Goal Zero employees joined Goal Zero ambassadors and founders of the Joyineering Fund, dad-daughter team Mike and Lilliana Libecki and Dell computers on a humanitarian expedition to Jhamtse Gatsal where they installed computers, solar panels, power stations, and lights. Watch the video below to learn more about the trip and the impact that access to technology and the means to power it can have in one of the most remote regions on earth.

"As a National Geographic Explorer, going to the most remote places around the world is a powerful passion of mine—and giving back is a top priority. My daughter Lilliana and I work together on humanitarian projects hoping to bring more joy to the world and providing solar energy to those in need is an amazing part of it." - Mike Libecki

"In a world where we can be and do anything, be kind and do good." - Lilliana Libecki, 15
