GOALØ Receives 600,000 US Patent Design

SPANISH FORK (October 14, 2009)

– The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) will award GOALØ, a renewable energy company for outdoor lifestyles, the 600,000th design patent for the technology behind its new portable solar energy product. The event will take place on October 14 in Alexandria, Va. at the National Inventors Hall of Fame. The patent was awarded for the development of state-of-the-art technology that captures and utilizes solar energy in a portable, all-in-one product called GoBe. Without the need for a standard power grid, the system features an integrated charge controller, power inverter, variable AC, DC and USB input/outputs, simple controls and indicators, and built-in safety features, making it the ideal solution for unconventional power needs. “We are humbled by this recognition from the USPTO for technology design,” said Robert Workman, president and chief executive officer, GOALØ. “Our company is proud to play a role in offering dependable access to renewable power in even the most remote places on earth.” Workman was inspired to develop the portable energy technology during a trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Located in central Africa, access to reliable electrical power is nonexistent in most places. The GoBe technology is the first step in making the DRC, and eventually the planet, a better place by creating a new way of supplying reliable and portable solar energy. “We are delivering innovative renewable power solutions that will change the way people live,” said Workman. “This technology can be used anywhere, anytime and by anyone. We hope that this patent is just the beginning.” In conjunction with the incorporation of GOALØ, Workman also established TIFIE (Teaching Individuals and Families Independence Through Enterprise) Humanitarian, a non-profit organization working to supply and teach the use of renewable solar energy technologies to underserved communities globally.
