I bought the Nomad 3.5 from REI. The sales man told me it will charge AAA battery's. Got it home and it didn't. So I go back to REI and another sales man told me you can get a free insert online. Well I had to buy 4 AAA battery's to get the insert. and If the sales man would have told me about the model that charged in 3 hours instead of 6 or 8 I would have bought that one. Other than that I like the product and haven't had any problems with it.

used it in the car on a trip just needed a velcro holder to put on dash to make it stable on turns etc.

will hook up amateur radio handheld when I get the auto adapter for rig.

My wife now wants one too.

I use a Petzl Tika light for backpacking; it requires AAA batteries. This AAA adapter makes charging them possible in backcountry conditions.
I consider this device essential and should come standard with all Goal Zero Solar chargers.

Service and delivery comments:

Still waiting to receive my order! Ordered the black Guide 10 sleeve and the aaa battery pack on April 29th. On May 14th - after not hearing from Goal 0 or having any way to track my package, I e-mailed your service department. Only then did I hear back that your sleeves were on backorder. They were due to hit the warehouse on May 15th and be shipped on that day - according to R. Helaman Herrera. I haven't heard anything since telling me whether they have or have not been shipped. Follow-up on back-ordered products and shipping issues therefore receives a failing grade from me. On the upside - I'm unemployed. I was a design quality assurance engineer with General Dynamics Itronix, until our jobs got shipped to Taiwan. If you're hiring - I could fix this and any other issues that come up!

Meanwhile, I'm still waiting.

  This AAA pack is compatible with the Nomad 7. The Nomad 3.5 does not charge AAA batteries without a special free insert you can obtain online. You cannot upgrade to the Nomad 7 from the 3.5, but you can purchase it for $79.99 from www.goalzero.com.

the AAA batt tray is too small, as in the AAA batt and AAA tray does not close the circuit to be charged in Guide 10 Plus.

Can you verify that the AAA set does indeed come with an adapter for use in the Guide 10's AA bay? There's no mention of it in the main description, and no view of it on the product photo. However, under What's In The Box, it does read "1 X AAA battery insert for Guide 10" - is this the adapter, is it a reusable item, and is it definitely included?
