The Nomad 7 solar panel delivers an ultra-compact yet powerful solar panel that enables you to charge your handheld devices from its USB and 12 volt DC charging ports.

The Rock Out pumps sound from your iPod, mp3 and other audio devices through its integrated speakers. Has built in internal battery so it won't drain your device. It will pump out the tunes for 20+ hours before needing a recharge.

This kit combines the two in perfect harmony. Plug the Rock Out into the Nomad 7 and recharge it from the sun in 4 hours.

Got the speaker and the solar panel and was disappointed at first that it failed to charge my iPhone - in moderate sunlight. Anyway - I then took it outside in full sunlight and it had no problem charging the iPhone. Bright sunlight is the key here folks. These things aren't designed to charge in mediocre lighting conditions. And the iPhone is pretty picky. The speakers rock and I just bought a bunch at Costco for christmas presents. Incredible sound in such a small, portable and durable package. I suggest that folks keep an eye on your local Costco and go there when these products are on display there. The gentleman who manned the station here in St. Louis was outstanding and very knowledgeable! A great company rep - he sold me on this stuff immediately!

I purchased this for a bike trip and it was an out of the box and onto the bike purchase. I left the 12v charger at home that was a mistake. the 3v USB would only maintain my phones change and did increase it a few percent. But now that I am home and have try it with the 12v it works great. I did let a poor review while I the road but I retract that one now and give this flying colors. Now I just need to design and mount for it on my B.O.B trailer.

I bought this to use on top of my B.O.B. Trailer while bicycling down the Oregon Coast. But it will not charge my smartphone either. I was keeping the battery at the same level but after 7 hours of full sun. it only went up from 33% to 40%. I to will be returning it to REI when I get home again.

As everyone else is reporting, I'm unable to get it to work with the iphone 3G, 3GS, and ipad (1st gen) iphone 3G connected via USB results in iphone saying it's fully charged (it's about 75% charged when I plugged it in). Same when connected via 12V cigarette light adapter using my car charger. iphone 3GS connected via USB results in iphone message that says charging is not supported by this accessory. iphone 3GS connected via 12V cigarette light adapter using my car charger results in iphone message that says charging is not supported by this accessory. ipad connected via USB results in iphone message that says Not charging. Its possible that it could be trickle charging the iphones and ipad, but that means it'll take forever to charge the device. Definitely not ideal when you're in a pinch and need to get the phone charged.

We really recommend using the Nomad 7 to charge up the Guide 10 power pack and using the Guide 10 to charge up your devices. Apple is very temperamental when charging directly from solar.

Bought my nomad 7 kit at a big box store.I tried to charge my droid X with the USB, but a no go. Said it was charging but never increased the battery charge. Full sun for 4 hours and the battery level only went down. Same happened with my friends Iphone. Tried a car charger and the 12 volt plug still nothing. Going to return it. Shame cause the speaker rocks.

I really wanted to be using the nomad 7m but I could not get it to charge my iPhone works great for everything thing else . So its more of an iPhone problem I think.

I apologize that it is not a simpler fit for the iPhone, but apple products are a bit picky in that they want the exact amount of power that they require, and if it is not perfect it will not accept the charge. First off, sometimes the screen will say it is not supported, but you will still be receiving a charge. You will need great sunlight (no clouds, not in the morning or evening, not through a window or glass) and if a shadow passes over or a cloud you may need to disconnect and reconnect it. Try plugging it in and unplugging it a few times after exposing the panel towards the sun for a few minutes so it has time to collect the solar power. (Also, some smart phones have a setting where the phone is set to only receive/ deliver data and not to charge- try checking that out)

For the Nomad 7 Solar Panel, make sure it is opened and pointed directly at full sun, before connecting iPhone cable. Be wary of cheap knock-off or extension cables, as we've seen cases where they don't work. And be aware that these devices may not charge in cloudy, overcast, or indoor conditions, because there simply isn't enough power to harvest. The iPhone may discontinue charging if the sunlight gets blocked, even briefly. Never hesitate to contact us directly, if you are having any problems at all.
