Can this be used for cpap machines?Asked on 4/27/2013 by David from Quakertown,PA2 answers
A:
Yes, but not for the extended run time CPAPs require or you require in sleep. Most CPAP machines need the Escape 150 or Extreme 350.Answered on 5/1/2013 by AnonymousA:
Since the typically CPAP machine draws 30 watts of power (check yours) and the with the optional AC inverter the Sherpa 50 produces 75 watts you can use it. Just remember you need to purchase the AC inverter as well.Answered on 4/28/2013 by Community Answer from None

Q:
How many times can the battery be rechargedAsked on 3/14/2013 by Mike from Sugar Land, Texas2 answers
A:
Lithium batteries have 2000+ life Cycles. That number can go up or down depending on maintenance and usage. We recommend keeping the unit topped off once a month. You can expect a 3-5 year span of optimal performance.Answered on 3/22/2013 by AnonymousA:
There is no set amount of times the battery will last for. If it does happen to die it can be replaced rather easily.Answered on 3/15/2013 by Community Answer from None
Q:
How do you charge a laptop with the laptop port. Do you have to have an inverter also?Asked on 3/8/2013 by GLENN from United States2 answers
A:
We have a laptop kit and inverter attachment. Currently the laptop kit is out of stock. We do however have the inverters available. http://www.goalzero.com/shop/p/153/Sherpa-50-Inverter-%28110V%29/6:4/Answered on 4/1/2013 by AnonymousA:
They have a adaptor kit that will allow you to connect various types of computers. The kit is currently sold out, but still check. However, this kit won't work for Macs.. you need to use a 12v airplane charger and car adapter charger together (i believe) and it will NOT charge the battery on the mac, but rather, just pass a charge to the laptop once the mac battery depletes.Answered on 3/22/2013 by Matt W from Amherst, MA

I plan to use this during my next year in Uganda. So far the charger is very slow to reach full charge and very quick to discharge. I hope it will do better in the tropics but I reserve judgment.

Comments about Sherpa 50 Solar Recharging Kit:
I purchased this device so that I could recharge my camera and laptop while travelling this summer. It charges the camera just fine.
The invertor however does not charge my laptop. I called and gave my model (Acer Aspire V3) type to someone explaining what happened. He confirmed that model would work fine if I bought the 12w laptop charger kit. I bought one. It arrived and the plug did not make a connection with my computer. I called back speaking with a different person. She spoke to an engineer and they said it didn't work for them on that model. Gave me the website of a company that makes plugs.
Problem is that as a customer who spent over $500 I am not the one who should be sorting out these problems. Goalzero should be sorting this out. And selling the finished product to people like me willing to spend the money.
I would prefer a call back from GoalZero about how they are going to fix this problem.

Comments about Sherpa 50 Solar Recharging Kit:
My team of four took the Sherpa 50 to the Revelation range of AK and was pleased with its ability to allow us to take digital pictures for 20 straight days. With adequate sun, the power pack charges efficiently allowing us to watch movies on a laptop during our down days. The only drawback that we could find was that the power cord connection from the nomad 13 became frayed was not field serviceable.
