What has Mike McKay, one of our Goal Zero Extreme Adventurers been up to? He is a kayaker, conservationist, and solar powered filmmaker. “A week or two tardy now, but in mid-June through mid-July the Five2Nine crew rallied to the west coast, extending the spring creeking season by grabbing some snowmelt along the Coast and Sierra Ranges. The West Coast had been hammered by snowfall this year, and there was no shortage of water. We are saddened to hear of the tragic loss of life that occurred with the Eddie Bauer Kayak team. (This taken from the First Ascent Blog.) “Yesterday Eddie Bauer received word that the South African whitewater guide, Hendri Coetzee, who was leading First Ascent Kayakers Ben Stookesberry and Chris Korbulic through the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), was pulled from his kayak on the Lukuga River by a crocodile and is presumed dead.
